Here’s why you should be using the iPhone’s excellent photo-editing suite

Grab your iPhone and select a random photo from the Photo app. Do you look at it and think, “yes, that’s the best thing I could look at”? If so, well, you’re Annie Leibovitz and you don’t need to learn anymore. But for everyone else, you may look at them and think that they may be obvious, visible, or cut in some other way.

The temptation here is to hit the setup, then the Auto button, and then leave there. Even worse, do not edit at all. But you are missing out on Apple’s highly enhanced image editing tool in that case, and it’s much easier to use than ever before. I have always enjoyed their skills very much.

Pro mode, without the learning curve

If you are familiar with the difficulty of photography, you can take photos using Pro Mode of iPhone and edit in special apps like Lightroom for an amazing final look. While the suite can compete with this, it offers a very simple way for all of us to change the way the image looks – sometimes in an amazing way. Best of all you need a little information to get started, and the more you use it, the better you get.

Let’s take a picture as an example. Shot in the afternoon, the powerful range of the iPhone and the Smart HDR feature makes it a good picture, keeping both highlights and shadows, but I like to make it more hyper-real. Tap Defaults on the photo editing program and brightens the image but it doesn’t really include much pop. Tap Auto again to disable the result, and let’s start with some manual variations.iPhone’s Excellent Photo-Editing Suite

Think it’s about technology? Not unless you are thinking of swiping your finger from one side to the other on a technical screen. To the right of the Auto, a different button for different image icons, ranging from exposure and comparisons to fullness and black dots. Each one can switch on using the slide below. Just zip it back and forth to see the life change in your photo.

After you change a limit, tap the image to see how it relates to the original. No matter how fast they work, the change can be huge.

You do not have to know how tones, highlights, or shadows will affect the image. Just use the slide to find, and if you don’t like it and want to return to the default, the app provides a fully customized haptic response piece to verify the position of the slide default center. It is incredibly practical and does not completely damage it. A sandbox to play in, with no consequences.

Surprisingly, even if you edited an image a few weeks ago, the app allows you to get back to the original rapidly – or use it with a new setting. It’s fast again, and the basic setup can be completed in less than a minute.

Portrait power editing – iPhone’s Excellent Photo-Editing

If you are taking portrait images using the front or rear camera, other editing modes appear. I used the iPhone 12 Pro to take selfies with my Huawei X Gentle Monster Eyewear 2 feature since it produces better, more flexible results than the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ1000 I practice for product photos.iPhone’s Excellent Photo-Editing Suite

Start editing again the first option to change the lighting mode, however the special section here slides below the Portrait options, which adjust the level of the selected effect. Practice this to get a more subtle look than the default. At the top of the screen, you will see another button with the number “f” inside. Tap this and use the new slide to set the amount of background shading you want. It helps if the iPhone’s edge recognition doesn’t get you right – it reduces blurring and exacerbates those difficult changes.

Bottom line

At the bottom of the screen, next to Portrait, Edit, and Filter mode is a way to adjust the crop, shape, and image aspects. It is probably the most accurate model in the editing suite, but the frequency is important. Apple Auto mode is not very good. You can see if it works with the default yellow button. Just tap to delete Apple changes. To the right of the Auto, a button is an investment tool. Tap and select your preferred size from the options.
